5 Most Famous Wrestlers of the World
1.Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan, no doubt is one of the most famous wrestlers world has ever seen. During 80’s and early 90’s Hogan was famous as professional wrestler, actor, television personality, and musician.Hogan also featured in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. He is a twelve-time world heavyweight champion: a six-time WWF/E Champion and a six-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, as well as a former WWE World Tag Team Champion with Edge. He was also the winner of the Royal Rumble in 1990 and 1991 and the first to win two Royal Rumbles in a row.
Born in Florida, Hogan started watching wrestling at the age of 16. At gym he met professional wrestler Mike Graham. His physical appearance instantly got Mike’s attention, who advised him to try professional wrestler.In 1976, Mike Graham introduced Hogan to Hiro Matsuda who with sarcasm asked Hogan about wanting to be a wrestler, and purposely broke one of Hogan’s legs and both his arms.Within a one year period, Matsuda prepared Hogan for his first professional match against Brian Blair in Fort Myers, Florida on August 10, 1977 and rest was the history.
2.The Undertaker
Undertaker is second in our list of most famous wrestlers of the world. Known as dead man, Undertaker has a very unique style and personality. He joined WCCW in 1984 and started as a professional wrestler. Later in 1990 he joined WWF.The Undertaker is eight-time world champion: a four-time WWF/E Champion and three-time World Heavyweight Champion and also one-time WWF Hardcore champion, and a seven-time world tag team champion: a six-time WWF World Tag Team Champion, and one-time WCW World Tag Team Champion. The Undertaker was the winner of the 2007 Royal Rumble and became the first man to win the Rumble at number 30.
The specialty matches connected to The Undertaker are the Casket match, the Buried Alive match, the notorious Hell in a Cell, and the Last Ride match. His famous wrestling moves are ChokeSlam, Old School, Tombstone Piledriver, Gogoplata submission hold and many more.
3.The Rock
I have to admit it, The Rock is my personal favorite . In his short wrestling career The Rock was one of the most famous wrestlers of the world.
The Rock’s real name is Dwayne Johnson and was a college football player.Rock’s father grandfather, Peter Maivia, and his father, Rocky Johnson both were professional wrestlers, and he was the first third-generation superstar in the company’s history. The Rock was quickly given a push in the WWF, first as “Rocky Maivia”, and then as “The Rock”, amember of the Nation of Domination. Two years after he joined the WWF, and won the WWF Championship, and became one of the most popular wrestlers within the company’s history for his engaging interviews and promos. In 2001, he began acting and occasionally returned to the ring. His primary focus, as of 2010, is his acting career.
His famous moves are People’s Elbow, Rock Bottom and Running shoulder breaker. He has acted in films like The Mummy Returns, The Scorpion King , Walking Tall, Doom,Gridiron Gang etc.
4.Stone Cold Steve Austin
Stone Cold is fourth in our list of World’s Most Famous Wrestlers. He is American Movie/ television actor and x- professional wrestler.Austin wrestled for several well-known wrestling promotions such as World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and most famously, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).
Austin won nineteen championships throughout his professional wrestling career, and is recognized by WWE as a six-time world champion, having held the WWF Championship on six occasions, and the fifth Triple Crown Champion. He was also the winner of the 1996 King of the Ring tournament, as well as the 1997, 1998 and 2001 Royal Rumbles. He was forced to retire from in ring competition in early 2003.
His most famous wrestling move was Stone Cold Stunner.Woooooooooooooh!!!!!.
5.Ric Flair
Ric Flair also know as “The Nature Boy” is fifth in our list of World’s Most Famous Wrestlers. Ric Flair is officially recognized by WWE, PWI and TNA as a 16-time World Heavyweight Champion (eight-time NWA Champion, six-time WCW Champion and two-time WWF Champion) although his actual tally of World Championship reigns varies by source — Flair considers himself a 21-time world champion. In World Championship Wrestling (WCW), he also had two stints as a booker— in 1989-1990 and 1994. Flair also won the 1992 Royal Rumble and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008.
His famous moves are Figure-Four Leglock, Chop Block, Backhand Chop Kick to Groin, The Low Blow, Knee Drop, Stalling Butterfly Suplex, Back Suplex, Elbow Drop to the knee.
